Excel allows the user to produce many acceptable charts; however, some of its options produce cluttered or even misleading charts. The user should be aware of options that should never be used and defaults that should be changed. This talk gives hints for producing clear, concise graphs that make the data stand out. Much of the advice applies to any of the common software programs. Avoid the loss of credibility that results from producing confusing or misleading graphs.
